The Timex Ironman sports watch collection was originally developed in 1986 and now enjoys an outstanding reputation amongst athletes across a huge variety of sporting disciplines.
One of the primary reasons for the enduring success of the Timex Ironman range is that it constantly embraces the latest developments in technology to meet the needs of the most demanding endurance athletes. This is illustrated by the revolutionary Timex Ironman Sleek 150-Lap with Tap Screen, which makes accessing and recording performance data eaiser than ever by utilising touch screen technology.
Your new Timex Ironman sports watch encompasses a host of advanced, innovative features and functions designed to give you an edge over the competition. However, some of the terminology used can be a little confusing so this guide to the key terms will help you understand and make the most of your Timex Ironman timepiece.
The Chronograph feature, or stopwatch, allows you to record the time of an event. The timing function allows you to start timing, to stop timing and to go back to zero with the push of a button i.e. stopwatch reset.
The Auto-start function is usually configured as part of the Count Down Timers and enables you to set a period of time prior to which a chime will signal as the chronograph automatically starts.
The Capacity of your Timex Ironman sports watch determines the absolute maximum period the chronograph is capable of timing an event for. This is dependent on the number of digits available. For example, a display requires 8 digits set in 4 pairs to be able to display 1 second short of 100 hours i.e. 99:59:59.99.
Your Timex Ironman sports watch will have several Modes which refer to the functionality, which relates to a specific screen display i.e. Time of Day, Chronograph, Timer, Interval Timers, Alarms, Set-Up.
The Resolution displays the fractions of seconds that can be shown, such as 1/10, 1/100, or 1/1000's of a second.
Timex Ironman watches include a multitude of Alarms; Daily, Week Day, Weekend End or One Off alarms.
Active-recall enables you to recall stored lap/split readings on-the-fly without having to exit from the chronograph mode. The stylish Timex Ironman Triathlon 50 Lap Sleek allows you to access split and lap data at the touch of a button.
Keep a handle on your performance thanks to the Average Lap display, which is calculated by averaging all the lap times recorded during the event.
The Best Lap feature displays the shortest timed lap selected from the total number of lap readings.
The Lap Counter records and displays the number of lap and slip time readings taken.
The Lap Time feature displays the time for an individual lap. It might sound simple but it’s also essential.
The Split Time feature records and displays the cumulative time of a number of laps from the beginning of the event to the last lap reading.
The Lap Memory feature displays the number of lap and split time readings recorded during an event that can be recalled from memory.
The Memory Recall allows you to store and recall chronograph readings including lap and split data. Timex Ironman Sleek 150-Lap is an advanced sports watch that features a 150 lap memory recall.
Segment Memory, or Multi-session Memory, enables you to store several training sessions worth of data in the watches memory, before having to remove it. This can also be used to time several races in a track or swim meet which can then be recalled at a later date.
The Elapsed Time displays the total time that has elapsed since the start of the event, recorded by pressing the start button.
The Target Time feature allows you to set a goal or target time for one or more laps, the watch will then indicate your relative position to the predicted time at the end of each lap, whether up, down or on target with you goal or target time. Developed with world-renowned athletes, the Timex Ironman Sleek 150-Lap with Tap Screen includes an advanced yet easy to use target time feature.
The Timer function is a pre-set timer, which counts down prior to an event (and sound an alarm), usually count & stop, count down and start stopwatch or count down and repeat.
The Interval Timer, or Multiple Timers, can be set up sequentially to allow for physical training where the rest and exercise periods are not the same. Check out the Timex Ironman 50-Lap iControl which combines 2 interval timers with the ability to wirelessly control your iPod.
