Oregon Sport UK launches the stylish and strapless heart rate monitor this month.

Oregon Sport UK announce the launch of the medically validated Oregon "Talking" Blood Pressure Monitor ORE039 BPW810, retail guide price £49.99.
A unique proposition, a wrist type blood pressure monitor that guides you through the process of measuring blood pressure and then calmly advises you on the measurement and what to do based on the measurement against World Health Organisation (WHO) standards.
The pleasant voice is calm and informative and offers the correct advice. Should the BP measurement be a little high, they advise to repeat the measurement over the next few days and, if it continues to be a similar measurement, you are then advised to conatct you GP.

In the area of measurement and monitoring of physiological parameters and with the launch of new technology the inevitable questions of accuracy, efficacy, reliability are rightly asked by retailers, consumers, athletes and coaches. In order to faciliate some objectivity into the process ASSIST creative resources ltd have announced their funding of the Research Institute for Fitness.
The primary function of the institute will be to offer manufacturers an independent organisation to assess the reliability, accuracy and efficacy of their new technology product. The institute will also carry out independent research to compare and contrast the effectiveness of comparable products. The institute's services will be availbale commercially and it is anticipated that media publications, manufacturers and industrial design comapnies will be interested in using these services. In addition the institute will support itself and become self-funding by offering sport science services to athletes and coaches both in the laboratory and in the field.

ASSIST announce their support for a newly launched charitable organisation, Street Talent. The idea behind Street Talent is to grant fund talented, upcoming athletes with the new technologies that will help them achieve their full athletic potential.
Street Talent is a new organsiation in the process of seeking founding sponsors for this muched needed area of supporting and helping the talented athlete at club level before they have managed to secure funding from their national governing bodies' elite performance programmes.

ASSIST have announced support for teamASSIST, a broad range of athletes from various individual sports including running, track and field, cycling, canoeing, rowing, triathlon and multisport. The support package is yet to be finalised, but will draw on the vast amount of sport science expertise within the ASSIST company. The athlete members of teamASSIST will in return provide feedback on wear testing new technologies and support the brands by speaking at seminars and other events.

Steve Raven, CEO at ASSIST, commented "The exact co-op details are a private matter between us and the retailer, but they represent a major incentive for the retailer to offer in-store multi-buy offers, tasting sessions or add-value to other purchases. We're offering stores the genuine opportunity to take new stock in in return for makig a media splash within their own advertising programme."
Shotz was launched in the UK in 2008, with Electrolyte Tablets and the renowned CarboSHOTZ, with an advertising campaign that recieved some great accolades. Simon Bradeley, UK Sales Manager, noted that all our stocks had been grabbed by the stores within weeks of the launch. In 2009 the company is planning even greater sales of the Electrolyte tablets, increasing the number of flavours available. The CarboSHOTZ gels will also increase the number of flavours available and add the additional CarboSHOTZ Wild Bean gel which includes a massive 80mg shot of caffeine. And just for good measure the SHOTZ bar range will be launched in April 2009.
The whole co-op programme will be based on new long-dated product, enabling each retail outlet to have sufficient product in-store to meet the inevitable demand from runners, cyclists, triathletes, and concurrently waving the advertising banner "SHOTZ Made in Australia". The campaign slogan "Realise your Dream" is at the very centre of the ethos of SHOTZ sports nutrition, help and support so each of us can achieve our aims and ambitions in endurance and multi-sport events.

"Who cares about time...!" - daring Timex advertising headline.
Timex' advertising of the new Timex Race Trainer on first appearance might appear to be a little contradictory, but when you get to hold and then use the new ANT powered techology of the Timex Race Trainer you will see what it is driving at. Clearly Timex is very seriously focused on the top-end elite athlete using this heart rate monitor.
The Race Trainer is Timex Ironman's new jewel in the crown, even more so when you realise it is coupled with a fully-featured online training log and nutirition diary the backend of which is powered by Training Peaks.
